CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams head west to California for three meets. The Mount SAC Relays are Wed. April 12 to Sat. April 15, Bryan Clay Invitational is Thurs. April 13 to Fri. April 15 and the Long Beach Invitational is on Fri. April 14 to Sat. April 15. 22 Illini are entered to compete at the Mt. SAC relays across all four days.
Two noteworthy Illini making the trip to Mt. SAC are junior Olivia Howell and sophomore Tacoria Humphrey. Howell just laid down the program's second fastest and currently third fastest 800m in the country (2:02.72) in her outdoor debut last weekend. Humphrey showed out as well breaking her own school record with the fourth furthest long jump in the country currently, 6.55m (21-6).
Junior Tyler Sudduth looks to improve his new PB discus mark of 56.59m (185-8) and climb higher than third in the record book. He can improve to 3-0 in the shot put as well with a win Saturday.
Junior Michael Shafis aims to move up his program's ninth best javelin mark, 61.45m 201-7. Freshman Olivia Campbell etched her name into the hammer throw record books last weekend. She resides at second with a 55.26m (181-3).
Only senior Danni Stoughton will compete in the women's heptathlon at Bryan Clay on April 13-14. Freshman Mia Morello and Sophomore Tori Thomas are the only two entered in the Long Beach Invitational on April 15.
