A Trio of Illini Produce Top-10 Program Marks on Final Day in California

LONG BEACH/WALNUT, Calif. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams finished the final day of competition at the Mount SAC Relays; while sophomore Tori Thomas and freshman Mia Morello competed in the pole vault at the Long Beach Invite on Saturday, April 15. Sophomore Tori Thomas improved her program's second best pole vault to 4.27m (14) in her fourth place finish today.
Two other Illini recorded a top-10 mark today. Junior Tyler Sudduth tied his school's third best shot put, 19.13m (62-9 1/4), he placed sixth. Sophomore Tacoria Humphrey hopped the school's seventh best mark in her tenth place finish in the high jump, 1.78m (5-10).
Junior Olivia Howell placed fifth in the 800m dash (2:03.83). The men's 4x400m relay team of freshman Tadeas Placek, redshirt senior Kashief King, junior Robert Williams and sophomore DeVontae Ford placed sixth (3:05.98). Williams also clocked a 51.68 in the 400m hurdles to take tenth.
UP NEXT
The track and field teams return to Demirjian Park on Fri.-Sat. April 21-22 for the inaugural Gary Wieneke Memorial. Senior day will be on Saturday joined by a live band from 1-5 p.m. CT.
