Fan Conduct Policies

Fan Code of Conduct

To establish a safe, inclusive, and welcoming experience for all fans, the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a fan conduct policy that is to be followed for all Fighting Illini events. To uphold good sportsmanship and out of respect to all guests, team personnel, and staff, the following will not be tolerated:

  • Interference with the progress or the event or play in any way
  • Insubordination toward staff, including but not limited to, refusing to present a valid game ticket upon request or sitting in seats other than your own
  • Verbal harassment of staff, game officials, student-athletes, coaches, or other spectators, including abusive, offensive, discriminatory, or derogatory language or behavior concerning a protected status
  • Unwanted physical contact with staff, game officials, student-athletes, coaches, or other spectators
  • Fighting, threatening, or taunting remarks or gestures directed toward staff, game officials, student-athletes, coaches, or other spectators  
  • Disorderly conduct or any unruly or abusive actions that may incite violence, harm others, create a disruption, or result in damage to the venue or personal property
  • Throwing or tossing objects toward others or onto the area of competition
  • Obscene or indecent clothing, signage, or other materials with profane or inflammatory references
  • Public intoxication or other signs of substance impairment
  • Entering the arena/facility, or any part thereof, including the competition area, without authorization
  • Loitering in walkways, aisles, or ramps
  • Smoking, including all vaping options and tobacco products
  • Violation of applicable university policy

Fans are responsible for their own behavior as well as those who use their tickets. Noncompliance with the above guidelines is subject to ejection, loss of ticket and parking privileges, potential criminal action, and discipline by the University, if applicable.

Court/Field Access Policy 

In all sports, access to the competition area shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, game officials, support personnel and properly credentialed individuals. Unless otherwise announced, spectators are not permitted, to enter the competition area at any time before, during, or after a contest.

Penalties against individuals who improperly enter the competition area could include, but are not limited to, ejection from the facility, potential criminal action, the loss of ticket [and parking] privileges, and discipline by the University, if applicable.

State Farm Center Courtside Policy

Inappropriate fan behavior will not be tolerated and may be subject to ejection from the arena and/or revocation of tickets. Examples of inappropriate behavior include but are not limited to using obscene, abusive or threatening language or gestures; making or attempting to make any unwanted physical contact with players, coaches, game officials, staff, or spectators; disrupting or interrupting the game; entering the playing court; throwing objects; or any other form of improper conduct.
