CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Five Illinois women's golfers have been named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, as announced by the organization on Tuesday (July 5). Seniors Crystal Wang and Kornkamol Sukaree, junior Siyan Chen and freshmen Lexanne Halama and Alise Knudson all earned All-American Scholar accolades for the 2021-22 season.
Wang collects her fourth-career All-American Scholar honor, while Sukaree nabs her third, Chen earns her second and Halama and Knudson collect their first such honor.
In total, 1,485 women's collegiate golfers were honored as All-American Scholars for the 2021-22 academic year, with a minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.50.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
