Golf, Ill. – Illinois women's golf finished the Windy City Collegiate Classic in ninth place after carding a team total of 876 (+12) at the Glen View Club.
The team posted a third -round score of 300 (+12). The Illini led the tournament in pars with 179. They also finished in the top five in par threes.
Brielle Mapanao continued her great play with another under par round of 71 (-1). Mapanao has now led the Illini in five rounds this season and has three consecutive rounds under par. She tied for fourth in pars for the tournament. She finished tied for 11th individually.Â
"The keys to success on this golf course were shot placement off the tee and being patient." Mapanao said. "The course was playing a little longer, so it was important to keep it simple and focus on one shot at a time. With Medinah coming up next week, we know there's a lot of good scoring opportunities, so dialing in on our irons and wedges will be important for next week."Â
Anna Ritter had a solid final round of 74 (+2). She shot 74-73-74 [221 (+5)] placing her tied for 35th for the tournament.Â
Alexis Myers finished with a final round of 79 (+7). She finished tied for 44th with a score of 72-72-79 [223 (+7)].
Victoria Zheng scored an 81 (+9) final round to finish with a 72-71-81 [224 (+8)] tournament score. She finished tied for 48th overall.Â
Erica Lee finished tied for 54th with a final round of 76 (+4) putting her at 76-75-76 [227 (+11)] for the tournament.Â
Next the Illini will head to Medinah, Ill., to compete in the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah on Oct. 6-7.
