ROSEMONT, Ill. – Alexis Myers was selected as both Big Ten Conference Women's Golfer of the Week and Freshman of the Week after winning the Badger Invitational individual title, the conference announced Thursday.Â
In only the second tournament of her collegiate career, Myers posted a 54-hole total of 207 (-9). Her finish tied her for the seventh-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history. Myers also scored back-to-back rounds of 67 (-5) in the second and third, continuing her impressive streak of improving or maintaining her score every round this season.Â
She accumulated 14 birdies across the tournament, tied for second overall. Myers helped the Illini post three straight rounds of below-par play and led them to their first team title of the season. Myers is the 23rd different Illinois golfer to win a tournament and the first since the 2023-24 season.Â
"Alexis played some outstanding golf this week and managed herself well." Coach Renee Slone said. "This course presented a number of risk/reward opportunities and she didn't try to force something that wasn't there.  She stayed process oriented and truly had fun on the course!"Â
This marks the first weekly honor for Myers and the first time any individual has won both Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week and Freshman of the Week.Â
The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Sept. 29, when they head to Golf, Ill., to compete in the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
