Iowa City, Iowa – The Illinois men's and women's cross country teams both took fifth place at the 2021 NCAA Midwest Regionl on Friday in Iowa City, Iowa. Jon Davis led the Illini men's squad, earning a runner-up finish in the men's 10k race with a time of 30:21.7 to lead the Orange and Blue. In the women's 6k, Olivia Howell led the Illini with a time of 21:17.80 and a 24th-place finish.
Tyler Cushing was the second Illini to finish in the men's 10k, finishing with a time of 31:01:09. Illini Junior Jack Roberts rounded out the top three for the Orange and Blue, finishing with a time of 31:34.34 to help Illinois finish in 5th place, their highest regional finish since 2017.
The women were led by Olivia Howell, who finished in 24th place with a time of 21:17.80. Emma Milburn (21:28.73) and Allison McGrath (21:31.69) were the second and third Illini to finish, respectively.
The 2021 DI cross country championship selections will be announced on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. CT, and can be watched HERE.Â
