Fighting Illini Cross Country Heads to East Lansing for Big Ten Championships

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini men's and women's cross country teams travel to East Lansing, Mich. for the Big Ten Championships on Friday (Oct. 31), at the Forest Akers Golf Courses. The men's 8k is slated to begin at 9:35 a.m. followed by the women's 6k at 10:35 a.m. with the awards ceremony following at 11:30 a.m. CT.

The Illinois men's team is coming off a Pre-Nationals meet in Columbia, Mo. where they placed 24th out of 31 teams. Joshua Daggett led the way for the Illini with a 24:19.9 good enough for 65th . He was followed by Pol Molins and Trey Sato who finished 121st (24:57.8) and 150th (25:11.8).

The women's team had a similar result to the men at Pre-Nationals finishing 26th out of the 38 teams. Nora Wollen led the Illini with a 20:33.7 time in the 6k taking 50th place. Avril Andre and Mireya Bugeja were the next two finishers for the Illini finishing 70th (20:48.0) and 192nd (21:51.6).
