CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's cross-country teams are prepared for their final race of the regular season with Pre-Nationals on Friday (Oct. 17) in Columbia, Mo. The women's 6k will be at 10 a.m. and the men's 8k will begin at 10:45 a.m. CT.
The Illini finished the Joe Piane Invite with some solid performances. Nora Wollen and Avril Andre both finished in the Top 20. Wollen clocked 16:34.5 good enough for a 19th-place finish and right behind her was teammate Andre with a 16:44.4 time for 20th place.
Each of these times set program top-5 times in the 5k being third and fourth now, respectively. They were not the only two to enter the Illini record books at this meet as Adam Patel who ran 23:43.0 which was good enough for 35th in the meet but was also the fourth fastest 8k time in program history.
The start was moved up earlier this week from Saturday (Oct. 18) to Friday (Oct. 17) due to inclement weather forecasted on Saturday.
