NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Illini women's cross country team took 12th place in the 5000m women's blue race at the Joe Piane Invitational at Notre Dame on Friday, with the men's team finishing 20th in the 5 mile men's blue race. Senior Emma Milburn led the way for the Illini women, finishing in 49th with a time of 17:02.3 in the 5k. For the men, graduate student Jon Davis led the way in the 5 mile, bringing home a runner-up finish in a 180-person field with a time of 23:11.6.
Junior Olivia Howell was the second Illini to finish, earning a time of 17:10.0. Rebecca Craddock, Allison McGrath, and Annalyssa Crain were among the other top-5 Illini finishers on the women's side.
Sophomore Tyler Cushing finished 57th for the Orange and Blue, the second Illini to finish, followed by Junior Jack Roberts, Senior Colin Yandel, and Junior Eddie Lennon.
In the women's open 5000m race, the Illini were led by senior Madison Marasco, who finished in 12th-place with a time of 17:34.6. Freshman Sam Poglitsch came in next for the Illini with a time of 17:58.8. Senior Irwin Loud was first to finish in the men's open 5 mile, coming in with a time of 25:36.8 and finishing in 18th-place.
