Lincoln, Neb. - Fighting Illini sophomores Rebecca Craddock and Allison McGrath raced to top-50 overall finishes in the women's 6K race at the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln Nebraska on Sunday. In the men's 8K race, redshirt junior Zach Dale was the first Illini finisher, recording a time of 25:02.5 and placing 57th overall. The Illini women finished 12th overall in the 6K race recording a score of 300, and the men placed 10th in the 8K race with a score of 299. 

"Today was a hard day for us, we wanted to be better," said head coach Sarah Haveman. "I believe as we continue to progress as a program we will look back on this day and have a lot we can pull from it. This is a great group of young student athletes that care about each other a great deal. We will stay focused on our process and there will be great things in our future."

Craddock placed 43rd with a time of 21:18.9, a new season-best mark in the 6000m. McGrath followed right behind, finishing 44th and clocking a time of 21:22.4. Sophomore Nicki Cast was next to cross the finish line for the Orange and Blue, placing 65th with a time of 21:58.1. Redshirt freshman Caroline Fix finished fourth for Illinois, logging a 22:12.3 finish time and placing 76th. Freshman Emma Milburn rounded out the top-5 Illini finishers, recording a time of 22:48.8 and placing 95th. 

Not far behind Dale in the men's 8K was freshman Logan Hall, who placed 63rd and clocked a time of 25:07.5 in his Big Ten Championships debut. Redshirt senior Billy Magnesen followed Hall to place third on the team and 66th overall with a time of 25:09.9. Next was freshman Colin Yandel making his postseason debut, placing 68th clocking a season-best finish of 25:11.0. Redshirt junior Caleb Hummer finished fifth for the Orange and Blue, placing 86th overall recording a time of 25:42.5. 

Michigan won the Big Ten Women's Cross Country title, ending the race with a team score of 57. Wisconsin came away with the men's championship, recording a team score of 38. 

Up next, postseason competition for the Illini continues as they will travel to Peoria, Ill. for the second time this season for the Midwest Regional Championships at Newman Golf Course on Friday, November 9. The women's 6K championship race will begin at 11 a.m. CT, and the men's 10K championship race will follow at Noon.
