Drake Westcott helped lead Illinois baseball to a 4-1 week, including a series victory at Indiana to open Big Ten play. Westcott went 6-for-15 (.400) with five runs scored, a double, a home run, six RBIs and five walks over the four-game span. Overall, he posted a .550 on-base percentage with a slugging percentage of .667, for a 1.217 OPS. He opened the week by going 2-for-5 with two runs in Illinois' 12-10 win vs. Bradley on March 19. He then went 4-for-10 (.400) with a three runs, a double, a home run, six RBI and five walks over the three-game set at Indiana. In Sunday's series finale vs. the Hoosiers, Westcott reached safely in all six of his plate appearances (2 H, 4 BB), homered and drove in four runs. Westcott was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time this season, and the third time in his Illini career. He is the first Illinois player since Bren Spillane in 2018 to earn multiple Big Ten Weekly Awards in a single season.
A native of Edwardsville, Ill., Westcott is a senior in sport management with a 3.44 GPA.
