Makala Woods netted her first goal of the season to help lead the Fighting Illini soccer team to a huge 2-1 victory over No. 19 Michigan at Demirjian Park on Sunday afternoon,
In the 20th minute, Lia Howard and Bel Rolley combined to win the ball back in the attacking third. Rolley then found Woods inside the Michigan penalty area as she cut across the box and curled a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner to put the Illini in front. Woods goal gave the Illini a 1-0 lead they would never relinquish.
Woods is a senior in studying political science and boasts a 3.51 GPA.
