Fighting Illini redshirt sophomore Danny Pucino, ranked 27th nationally, earned a ranked win at 141 pounds in overtime on Dec. 3 at 18th-ranked Pittsburgh. A last-second stall call against Pucino in the third period granted No. 13 Cole Matthews the point he needed to even the score, 3-3, and force overtime. Pucino did not waste any movements or time early in the overtime period, quickly securing the takedown to complete the upset victory, 6-3.
Pucino is a communication major from Libertyville, Ill., and carries a 3.29 GPA.
