Caleb Griffin | Sr., Football | Major: Strategic Brand Communication
Caleb Griffin hit a game-winning 43-yard field goal as the clock expired to lift the Fighting Illini football team to a 27-24 road win over Maryland at SECU Stadium on Saturday. The kick was the second walk-off field goal on the road in Illini history, and the first since Mike Bass' 46-yard winner as time expired at Wisconsin in 1982.
Griffin is the first Illini kicker to have two game-winning kicks in the final two minutes or overtime in a game in a single season since Otto Seiler hit two game-winning drop kicks in 1910. He is also the first kicker in program history with two final-minute game-winning field goals in a season.
A native of Danville, Ill., Griffin is working toward a master's in strategic brand communication and has a 3.7 GPA.
