TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fighting Illini men's and women's cross country teams both claimed first at the John McNichols XC Invitational on Saturday, September 17. Senior Olivia Howell placed first outright in the women's 5k race (17:17) and Graduate student Colin Yandel led the Illini runners and placed third overall with a new personal-best 8k (24:31).

Three Illini men finished in the top-10. Senior Jack Roberts placed sixth on a new personal-best time (24:36.5), followed by freshman Brady Masters in eighth (24:39). Junior Tyler Cushing placed 16th (25:01.1), junior Anthony Maida took 20th (25:13.9), senior Michael Madiol finished 23rd (25:15.4) and sophomore Nicolas Dovalovsky rounded out top-30 finishers placing 27th (25:19.9).

Five Illini women cracked the top-10, six in the top-15. Graduate student Emma Milburn finished third (17:30.5), followed by sophomore Halle Hill in fifth (17:33.8). Sophomore Sam Poglitsch (17:45.6) and fifth-year senior Madison Marasco (17:47.4) finished eighth and ninth respectively. Sophomore Maggie Gamboa rounded out the top finishers in 14th (18:00.6).
