CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's cross-country teams kicked off the season at home with the Illini Challenge at the UI Arboretum. Halle Hill paced the Illini women with a time of 17:55.4 and Tyler Cushing paced the men (18:02.6).
The Illini women took the top six spots with Sam Poglitsch (17:55.5), Madison Marasco (17:56.0), Maggie Gamboa (18:14.2), Amalia Malecek (18:20.4) and Katie Hohe (18:35.8) respectively. The men earned the top seven; Colin Yandel (18:02.7), Jack Roberts (18:07.0), Brady Masters (18:13.1), Michael Madiol (18:30.1), Anthony Maida (18:35.6) and Will Giblin (18:43.0) respectively.
Breena Shreeves (19:26.6) took ninth and Audrey Ginsberg (19:46.1) rounded out the top-ten on the women's front. Evan Cummins (18:51.9) placed top-ten as well, finishing in ninth. All men finished in the top 15.
