Adrien Dumont de Chassart | Sr., Men's Golf | Major: Management: Entrepreneurship

The Fighting Illini men's golf team made history on Sunday (May 1) at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort, battling windy conditions in a back-and-forth contest to overtake Michigan State and secure the 2022 Big Ten Championship for a conference-record seventh consecutive season, and the 12th time in the last 13 years. Overall, it marks the 19th Big Ten Title for the Illini program.

Adrien Dumont de Chassart opened on Friday with a career-low-tying 64 (-8), one shot off the Big Ten Championship record of 63 set by former Illini Dylan Meyer in Round 1 at Baltimore Country Club in 2017. The senior finished the weekend in second place individually, marking his third straight medalist (top-three) finish at the event. Dumont de Chassart won it in 2019 and tied for second on his way to conference Co-Player of the Year in 2021. He also earned All-B1G Championship Team honors by virtue of his top-five finish.

In addition to the team title and all-championship team honors, Dumont de Chassart also took home the Les Bolstad Award, closing the tournament with a season stroke overage of 70.15 to lead all Big Ten golfers. The honor is the ninth all-time in program history.

Dumont de Chassart is majoring in Management: Entrepreneurship and is a native of Villers la Ville, Belgium.
