Cole Kirschsieper | So., Baseball | Major: Recreation, Sport, & Tourism

Illinois began Big Ten play with a dominant win in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader at Michigan State behind an impressive performance from lefty pitcher Cole Kirschsieper. The Illini led 3-0 after one frame, and 8-0 through two innings. Michigan State did not push a run across until the sixth as the Illini built a 9-0 lead before cruising to the 11-3 victory. Kirschsieper threw 6.0 innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five. The victory moved Kirschsieper to 4-1 on the season.

Kirschsieper, a native of Frankfort, Ill., is majoring in Recreation, Sport, & Tourism.
