Illinois women's gymnastics recorded the second-best score in program history against Bowling Green on March 10, posting a 197.350 - including the best vault score in program history - in the victory over the Falcons.
Individually, Mia Takekawa set a program record in the all-around with a 39.750, beating Gianna O'Connor's mark of 39.625.
For the second week, the Illini scored a top-two score in program history on beam (49.500). Mia Takekawa, for the second time in her career, scored a perfect 10.0 on the event. No other Illini has ever scored two 10s. She also set three career-highs on bars (9.950), floor (9.925) and all-around (39.750).
Following her historic night against Bowling Green, Takekawa posted a 39.575 in the all-around at Mizzou on Saturday, tied for second best in program history. On beam she scored her second 9.95 of the night followed by a 9.875 on floor and 9.8 on vault. "I love watching Tak enjoy herself and enjoy the moment when she is out there competing," head coach Nadalie Walsh said.
Takekawa, on March 14, was named B1G Gymnast of the Week for the third time in her career, and the next day was tabbed as a first-team All-Big Ten selection for the second time in her career.
Takekawa, a native of Sacramento, Calif., is majoring in engineering.
