
Illini Track & Field Travel to Notre Dame for Meyo Invitational

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track & field teams are set for the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Ind., on Friday and Saturday (February 4-5).
Illinois joins the host Fighting Irish as well as 37 other programs, including Auburn, Ball State, Bradley, Butler, Central Michigan, DePaul, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Grand Valley State, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Indiana, Indiana State, Iowa, Iowa State, IUPUI, Kent State, Loras, Louisville, Loyola-Chicago, Marquette, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northern Colorado, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, Saint Louis, Southern Indiana, Tennessee, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Youngstown State.
The meet kicks off with the women's pentathlon on Friday at 10:30 a.m. CT, with field events beginning later in the day at 3 p.m. CT and running events slated to start at 3:30 p.m. CT. The meet continues on Saturday with running events beginning at 9 a.m. CT and field events starting at 9:30 a.m. CT.
The Meyo Invitational is free and open to the public, but visitors must follow university COVID protocols and wear a mask at all times when indoors. This does not apply to student-athletes while they are actively warming up or competing or coaches while they are actively coaching.

Last Time Out
The Illinois men's and women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, hosted by Louisville at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center, on Saturday (January 29) with the Illini winning nine event titles, highlighted by a two-win day from graduate Jon Davis and a program record set by junior Olivia Howell.

Illini Notes
- Junior Olivia Howell set a new school record - as well as a personal best – with a time of 4:40.48 to place second in the mile race at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Saturday. She followed up that performance by winning the 800m event with an indoor personal-record and facility record time of 2:08.30.
- Graduate student Jon Davis won two events at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, starting with a personal-best and facility-record of 4:05:50 to win the mile, before adding his second event win of the day with an indoor personal-best and facility record time of 1:51.22 in the men's 800m.
- Junior Tyler Sudduth continued his strong performance this season, turning in a personal-best mark of 19.02m in the weight throw at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, before registering the fourth-best throw in program history with a personal-best, facility record mark of 18.89m in the shot put.
- Senior Bret Dannis notched his third-straight 60m hurdles title after posting a personal-best time in the preliminaries, before besting that with a time of 7.86 in the finals.
- The Illini men's 4x400 relay – including junior Robert Williams, freshman DeVontae Ford, Thormo and redshirt-junior Kashief King – capped the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational with their third-straight win of the season with a time of 3:13.61.
- The Illini women came in at No. 9 in the second USTFCCCA Midwest Regional TFRI, with the Illini men coming in at No. 16.
Next Up
Illinois continues its indoor season next weekend by sending groups to the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., and the Indoor Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn., with both meets taking place on Feb. 11-12.
