Abigail Cabush | SR, Swimming & Diving | Major: Bioengineering

The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team took first place at the House of Champions Invitational behind senior Abigail Cabush who tallied five top-10 finishes. Cabush broke her own school record in the 200 Freestyle and her time of 1:47.71 set the House of Champions Meet record in the event. Cabush also took the top spot as part of two relay events (400 Free and 200 Free), finished third 100 Freestyle, and placed fifth in the 200 Free setting another personal best in the event.

Cabush is from Sussex, Wis., and is majoring in bioengineering from the Grainger College of Engineering.

Tarique Barnes | SO, Football | Major: Advertising

The Fighting Illini football team put up a dominant performance in a 47-14 win over rival Northwestern. Sophomore LB Tarique Barnes was instrumental for the defense as he led the team with eight total tackles (five solo). Barnes brought the pressure early, recording two tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and a forced fumble all in the first half.

Barnes, a native of Memphis, Tenn., is an advertising major in the College of Media.
