60m Hurdles Results | Championship Central
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Tamika Robinson timed a personal-best mark of 8.12 during Friday's prelims of the 60m hurdles and qualified for the event final at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time in her career. The Chicago, Ill., native turned in the fifth-fastest time of the day at Texas A&M's Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium and will next run in the finals on Saturday evening at 5:20 p.m. CT.
"It all came together for Tamika today," head coach Tonja Buford-Bailey said. "She ran really aggressively and really wanted to make that final. She was coming off an injury from earlier this season, so she just needed time to get to this level. It was important for her to keep her confidence up and trust in her training. I told her it doesn't matter what you were ranked on the list because it just matters what you do on this day. I am really proud of the way she competed."
Robinson's mark ranks third in school history behind Perdita Felicien (7.90) and Susanna Kallur (8.00). By advancing to the final this time, she will earn the second All-America honors of her career after also garnering the accolade in the 100m hurdles in 2010. Last season at indoor nationals, Robinson just missed making the finals by eight thousandths of a second after timing 8.22 during prelims.
Central Florida's Jackie Coward turned in the fastest time of the day 8.06 [8.059], just a hundredth of a second faster than Clemson's Brianna Rollins, who ran 8.06 [8.059]. Texas A&M's Gabby Mayo posted the third-fastest time of 8.09 followed by Ohio State's Letecia Wright at 8.12 [8.119]. The top eight qualifying times to advance to the final can be found below. ESPN3 will webstream the event on Saturday from 4-7:50 p.m.
