CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams completed the Illini Deca-Jam on Saturday (April 11) in Demirjian Park. Jane Roosimagi now owns the program record in the javelin with her 52.65m (172-9) toss in her event win today. She broke Lisa Balagtas' record 51.58m (169-3) originally set in 1989.
Over on the track Grace Kombetto sprinted to the gold medal in the 800m on the school's fourth-fastest time of 2:05.07. Oluwatomilayo Akintunde threw the program's fourth-best hammer throw in her fifth-place finish, 65.19m (213-10).
Emma Haeggblom opened her season with a win in the high jump clearing 1.81m (5-11 1/4) which is the seventh-best mark in school history. Anastasia Retsa finished third in the pole vault on the school's new ninth-best clearance, 3.97m (13-0 1/4).
Reece Ihenacho won the discus on a season-best toss, 53.95m (177-0), and Gator Young won the pole vault, 5.24m (17-2 1/4). Javaris Ambrose took the event crown in the hammer throw, 59.73m (195-11) and Gator Young topped the podium in the pole vault, 5.24m (17-2 1/4).
On the track Jackson Gilbert recorded a new personal-best 800m in his win (1:50.27), Ashley Oliver replicated this result in the 400mH with a new PB in her win (1:00.11) and Nicole Poglitsch broke the tape in he 5000m (17:21.40).

The Illini are back in action next weekend (April 16-18) for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
