SAVOY, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's cross country teams completed their lone home meet of the year, the Fighting Illini Invitational, on Friday (Sept. 4) from the Orange and Blue Golf Course. Both the men's (6k, 20 points) and women's (4k, 28 points) squads won their respective races.
It was a 1-2-3 finish for the Orange and Blue men led by newcomer Wilson Georges who clocked a time of 17:56.3. Trey Sato was narrowly behind him in second place crossing in 17:56.8 and newcomer Frank Buchanan took bronze on a time of 17:57.1.
Kennady Anderson led the women's team with a silver medal on a time of 13:25.6. A pair of incoming transfers crossed next for Illinois in Abbi Steiner who took sixth (13:47.7) and Olivia Haas placed seventh (13:47.7) to round out the top-3 Illini women.

The Illini distance crew resumes action at the end of the month with the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. on Friday (Sept. 25).
