TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Illinois men's and women's cross country teams completed the 2026 regular season at Pre-Nationals on Friday (Oct. 16).
Mireya Bugeja was the highest Illini finisher of the day leading the women's team in 72nd place on a time of 20:40.9. Kennady Anderson crossed next in 141st place (21:12.0) and Abbi Steiner finished in 153rd (21:14.5) to round out the top-3 Illini women. The women's team finished in 26th place out of 43 teams with 679 points.
Over on the men's side William Strickley led the team in 96th place with a new personal-best 8k time of 24:17.3. Frank Buchanan followed behind in 119th place (24:23.4) and Adam Patel rounded out the top-3 Illini men in 127th place (24:27.0). The men's team finished in 28th place out of 44 teams with 704 points.
UP NEXT
The Illinois distance squad is back in action in a couple weeks for the Big Ten Championships on Friday (Oct. 30) hosted by Wisconsin at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
