CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field team is set for their outdoor home opener, the Fighting Illini Twilight, on Saturday (April 26) with both track and field events starting at 1 p.m. CT.
Abria Smith is coming off a weekend throwing one of the best shot puts in NCAA history at the Tom Jones Invitational with an 18.92m (62-1) heave. It's the 14th-best shot put in NCAA outdoor history, a school record and the number two mark in the nation for the 2025 season.
Tacoria Humphrey opened her season in the long jump at the Tom Jones Invitational as well where she leapt the fifth-best mark in the nation at 6.73m (22-1). Rose Yeboah leads the nation in the high jump with her 1.91m (6-3 1/2) hop at the beginning of the month at the Florida Relays.
On the men's side, Kam Garrett holds the nation's seventh-best high jump 2.20m (7-2 1/2). Tori Thomas rounds out the Illini ranked inside the top-10 owning the nation's 10th-best pole vault, 4.43m (14-6 1/4).
