News

Will Riley is this week's Prairie Farms Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The Illinois forward was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after leading the Illini in two games, averaging 22.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 6.0 rebounds. He delivered a standout performance in a dominant win at Minnesota, scoring a game-high 27 points while matching his career-high with nine rebounds and setting a new career-best with seven assists. He also became the first NCAA freshman since the 1996-97 season to record at least 27 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists without a turnover in a single game. This marks Riley's third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor this season and his second in a row. He earned the award last week after averaging 20.0 points against Ohio State and Nebraska. His first recognition came in the opening week of the season when he set an Illini freshman debut scoring record with 31 points against Eastern Illinois.
