KETTERING, Ohio – The No. 8 Fighting Illini men's golf program, coming off a win at the Windon Memorial Classic, returns to the course Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13-14, at the Moraine Intercollegiate hosted by Miami (OH) at Moraine Country Club in southwest Ohio.
THE SETTING
The Moraine Intercollegiate will be contested at the Par-71, 6,916-yard Moraine Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. The course features a classic Scottish links-style design. It has been ranked No. 71 in Golfweek's list of the Top 100 Classic Courses, and No. 81 on the Top 100 courses in the United States. Golf Digest ranked the course 146th in its Top 200 ranking. In 2016, the course underwent a $5 million renovation to restore the original Alec Campbell design. In 2024, the course hosted the Western Amateur. The course also hosted the 1945 PGA Championship won by Bryon Nelson, the ninth in his PGA Tour record run of 11 straight victories.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The 54-hole tournament will be played over two days with 36 holes set for Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday. Monday will open with a shotgun start. Both days are slated to begin at 8:45 a.m. ET/7:45 a.m. CT.
THE FIELD
The tournament field features 14 programs. The No. 8-ranked Illini are joined by four other Big Ten programs – Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State – along with host Miami (OH), Bowling Green, Connecticut, Dayton, Missouri, Rhode Island, VCU, Wright State, and Xavier.

The Moraine Intercollegiate is new to the Illini schedule in 2025-26. No members of the Illinois golf team have previously competed in the event.

The Fighting Illini return to Saucier, Miss., Oct. 18-20, to compete at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational, co-hosted by Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss, at Fallen Oak at Beau Rivage Resort. Last season, the Illini posted a T2 team finish behind a medalist performance from then-senior Jackson Buchanan.
