Biography

FRESHMAN - 2025-26

  • Played in six stroke play events, all as an individual competitor
  • Posted a season stroke average of 72.56
  • Made collegiate debut as an individual competitor at OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational (Sept. 19-21) finishing T42 with a three-round total of 7-over 217 (76-66-75)
  • Season-best tournament finish (T2) as an individual competitor at the Moraine Intercollegiate (Oct. 13-14), shooting 69-66-71 to card a season-low 206 (-7)
  • Posted a season-low round of 66 twice, a 4-under in Round 2 of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational and a 5-under in Round 2 of the Moraine Intercollegiate. 
  • Recorded seven rounds at par or better, including four rounds in the 60s

HIGH SCHOOL/JUNIOR

  • Finished in the top four of the Australian Boys’ Order of Merit four times before signing with Illinois, placing third in 2021, second in 2022 and fourth in both 2023 and 2024
  • In 37 events during that four-year run, he posted 30 top-10s, 22 top-fives, four runner-up finishes, and captured four championships
  • Won the 2022 Queensland Junior, the 2022 South Australia Junior Masters, the 2022 Jack Newton International Junior Classic, and the 2023 Northern Territory Classic Championship
  • In 2023, also secured Junior 6’s Tour wins in both stroke play and match play at Sanctuary Lakes and Newcastle and earned the Northern Territory Amateur Championship
  • Won the 2022 Gold Coast District Golf Association (GCDGA) Champion of Champions event and was recognized as the 2022 GCDGA Junior Player of the Year.

  • Born Dec. 14, 2006 in South Africa
  • Moved from South Africa to Australia at the age of 13
  • Signed with Illinois on Nov. 13, 2024
  • Has an older brother, Phil, who competes on the men’s golf team at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.
  • Hobbies include going to the gym
  • Chose Illinois because, “The rich history, culture, and achievements were part of my considerations, however, the No. 1 consideration for me, by far, is the honor and opportunity to be coached and play for Coach Small. With Coach Sondjaja assisting it’s the perfect coaching combination and fit for me to turn my dreams into reality.”
