David Olano | So., Football | Major: Recreation, Sport, & Tourism
Illinois kicker David Olano went a perfect 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts against No. 19 Kansas, a performance that helped the Fighting Illini take down the ranked Jayhawks, 23-17, in front of a sold-out Memorial Stadium crowd on Sept. 7. Olano made kicks from 23, 43, and 50 yards, the latter of which set a new career-long make for the Illini kicker. He also went 2-for-2 on PATs.
Olano, a native of Naperville, Ill., is a sophomore majoring in recreation, sport, and tourism during the Fall 2024 semester. This marks the second-consecutive week that an Illinois football student-athlete has been named the Prairie Farms Scholar Athlete of the Week, as running back Kaden Feagin earned recognition for his career-best performance in the Orange and Blue's 45-0 victory over EIU on Aug. 29.
This is the first Prairie Farms Scholar Athlete of the Week award for Olano.
