Illinois graduate student outside hitter Raina Terry became the first student-athlete in program history to reach 2,000 kills after achieving the feat during the Fighting Illini volleyball team's five-set win over #20 USC at Huff Hall on Friday night. Having already taken over the top spot in the program's career kills list, Terry recorded a match-high 18 kills against the No. 20-ranked Trojans in the Orange and Blue's first win over a ranked opponent this season.
Terry then guided the Illini to a 2-0 weekend after tallying 10 kills in Illinois' sweep over Ohio State on Saturday night. Terry – a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in recreation, sport, and tourism – has now registered double-digit kills in 12 consecutive matches.
Terry has been named the Prairie Farms Scholar Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
