Danielle Davis | R-SR., Softball | Major: Master's: Food Science & Human Nutrition

Danielle Davis drove in a team-high five runs, including a grand slam that capped off the six-run Illini third inning, to power Illinois to an 8-4 victory over Wisconsin in the first round of the Big Ten Softball Tournament at Eichelberger Field on Thursday, May 11.  

With the game knotted 2-2 in the third following a Stevie Meade sacrifice fly, and a two-out RBI infield single from Sydney Malott, a Delaney Rummell single and Megan Ward walk loaded the bases for Davis. The veteran hitter then sent the crowd into a frenzy with a grand slam into the warm spring night, to give the Illini a 6-2 lead they would never relinquish. Davis added her fifth RBI of the game on a groundout in the fifth inning, pushing the Illini lead to 7-3. 

A native of Missouri City, Texas, Davis is pursuing a master's degree in food science and human nutrition at Illinois.
