
Track and Field to Host Inaugural Gary Wieneke Memorial this Weekend

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams are set to host their second and finally home meet of the season, the Gary Wieneke Memorial, on Fri.-Sat. April 21-22 at Demirjian Park.
In honor of it being the first Gary Wieneke Memorial there will be another Illinois first with a live band; the Tom Grassman Band will play in the upper concourse of the south end bleachers on Friday from 1-5 p.m. CT. Senior day will be on Saturday starting at 2:45 p.m. CT where 21 seniors will be honored. Alumni will also be honored this weekend.
Two school record holders will be showcased at the meet. Junior Aiden Ouimet just broke his own decathlon school record last weekend with 7,433 points. He will compete in the long jump, shot put and discus. Sophomore Tacoria Humphrey broke her own long jump record two weeks ago with a 6.55m (21-6) leap. She will perform in both the long and high jump.
Junior Tyler Sudduth has won two out of his three shot put appearances and hasn't finished any lower than third in discus this outdoor season. He will be throwing both this weekend. Junior and National Champion Olivia Howell will anchor the 4x400m relay team.
Teams making the trip to Champaign are: Bradley, DePaul, Illinois Chicago, Illinois State, Indiana State, Loyola Chicago, Milwaukee, Notre Dame, Saint Louis and Southern Illinois.
