
Illini Track and Field Take Flight to Albuquerque for Two Day Invitational

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams are ready to take flight to Albuquerque, NM for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 10-11. Both field and running events will begin at 3 p.m. CT on Friday. On Saturday field events start at 9:30 and running events at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Senior's Olivia Howell, Tyler Sudduth and junior Tyler Cushing all left last weeks (Feb. 3-4) Meyo Invitational event winners. Howell won the mile and narrowly missed besting her own school record by .03 seconds, she ran a 4:33.77. Sudduth made a massive jump on his weight throw in his event win and now ranks second in the Illinois record book, 22.69m (74-5 1/2). Cushing set a new personal-best in his 5000m win (14:07.37).
Graduate student Emma Milburn improved her school's 3000m third best mark to 9:20.28. 26 Illini will make the trip out to New Mexico this weekend.
NOTES
- 20 new or improved school top-10 marks have been etched into the record books so far this season.
- Jessica McDowell (400m) and Tyler Sudduth (WT) are both already qualified for NCAA's.
- Viktor Morozov (TJ), Olivia Howell (Mile) and Tacoria Humphrey (HJ) are all on the bubble for NCAA qualifications.
