ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Illinois swimming and diving team completed day one of Big Ten Championship competition on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The Illini leave with a new school record in the 200-medley relay (1:39.75) swam by: Senior Athena Salafatinos, senior Kaleigh Haworth, sophomore Logan Kuehne and senior Isabelle Guerra.
The 800 freestyle relay team cracked a top-10 program mark as well. The team of sophomore Sydney Stoll, freshman Sara Jass, freshman Liv Dorshorst and junior Cara Bognar swam the seventh fastest program time of 7.19.86, they placed 11th. Stoll's leadoff time of 1:48.77 landed her seventh in the school's 200 freestyle record book.Â
The dive team placed top-12 in the very first Big Ten Team Diving Relay with a score of 232. This event consists of three athletes completing two dives covering all six categories on three disciplines. Freshman Abby Manos scored a personal-best on two three-meter dives.
