EUGENE, ORE. – Illinois track and field graduate student Jon Davis had an impressive night on the track on the opening day of the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships as he advanced to the men's 1500m final on Wednesday night at Hayward Field.
Davis finished in 3:37.39 to place first in his heat and turned in the fastest qualifying time of the two heats. With his advancement, Davis has secured his second outdoor track and field All-America honor of his career after earning Second Team All-America honors as a freshman in the 5k.
The Oakwood, Ill., native will now race for a national championship on Friday (June 10) with the final of men's 1500m set for 8:12 p.m. CT.
Junior Olivia Howell is up next for the Illini as she takes to the track on Thursday (June 9) at 7:46 p.m. CT for the women's 1500m semifinals.
