Megan Heuser | Fr., Women's Tennis | Major: Interdisciplinary Health Sciences
For the second straight season, the Illinois women's tennis team put together a come-from-behind upset victory over Northwestern with a 4-3 win against the Wildcats on Sunday (April 17) afternoon in Atkins Tennis Center. With the win, the Illini improved to 14-7 and 7-2 in the Big Ten, while wrapping up the regular season home slate with an impressive 11-1 mark. Their 11 wins rank tied for the second-most home wins in program history.
The match with the Wildcasts was an epic battle in doubles as NU (12-7, 7-2 B1G) came away with the point. Northwestern then made it 2-0 after a win on court six, before the Illini tied it up with back-to-back victories at No. 1 and 2 singles. After another UI setback on court three, all eyes turned to court four as freshman Megan Heuser defeated Ema Lazic, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to send the Illini to the 4-3 victory.
Heuser, from Lindenhurst, Ill, is majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences.
