COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Illinois women's golf team sits in striking distance at the Lady Buckeye Invitational, sitting just three strokes off the lead in second place following two rounds at the par 72, 6,319-yard Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course on Friday (April 15). The Illini registered a 36-hole team total of 608 (+32) with two of the five lowest rounds of the day with a 305 (+17) in their opening round and 303 (+15) in the second.

Host Ohio State leads the tournament with a 29-over total of 605 after rounds of 298-307.

Senior Crystal Wang holds the share of the individual lead with OSU's Emily Hummer after carding rounds of 71-74 for a two-round total of 145 (+1). Wang opened her tournament with three birdies in her first four holes en route to posting one of just two sub-par rounds on the day.  

Sophomore Isabel Sy joins Wang in the top-10 and is tied for seventh after posting the second sub-par round of the day as she recorded a two-round total of 151 (+7) after opening with an 81 and then rebounding with a two-under 70 in her second round. Sy combined with Wang for 14 birdies as the duo ranked first and second in the category.

Senior Kornkamol Sukaree is tied for 17th after turning in rounds of 75-80 for a two-round total of 155 (+11), while freshman Alise Knudson made her lineup debut and is tied for 22nd with a 36-hole total of 157 (+13) after rounds of 78-79.

Rounding out the Illini was junior Siyan Chen with a 19-over total of 163 through two rounds of 81-82 and is tied for 45th.

The Illini will wrap up play at the Lady Buckeye Invitational with the third and final round on Saturday (April 16) with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. Fans can follow along with live scoring via Golfstat.com.
