MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Illinois women's golf team had a strong start to the 2022 spring season with the Illini sitting just three strokes off the lead in third place at the Columbia Classic after posting a 36-hole team total of 583 (+7) on Sunday (February 13) at the Duran Golf Club.   

The Illini opened the day with a first round seven-over total of 295, before registering the lowest team score of the day with an even-par 288 in the second round. Texas Tech leads the tournament with a four-over total of 580, with Virginia Tech in second place with a six-over total of 582.  

Senior Crystal Wang is just two strokes of the individual lead and tied for fifth after scores of 75-68 for a one-under two-round total of 143, with her second round 68 equaling a season-low for a single round. VT's Emily Mahar leads all players with a three-under total of 141.  

Sophomore Isabel Sy and junior Siyan Chen are tied for 15th after totaling a three-over 147 through two rounds, with Sy turning in rounds of 73-74 and Chen carding rounds of 70-77.

Freshman Lexanne Halama notched scores of 77-73 for a six-over total of 150 to sit in a tie for 25th, while senior Kornkamol Sukaree is tied for 29th after rounds of 78-73 for a seven-over par two-round total of 151.

Rounding out the Illini is freshman Alise Knudson, playing as an individual, with a 36-hole total of 155 (+11) to sit in a tie for 48th.

Monday's final round tees off beginning at 7 a.m. CT, with the Illini paired with Texas Tech and Virginia Tech starting one the first hole. Live score will be available via GolfStat.com.
