NORMAN, Okla. – The Illinois women's golf team secured its second-straight top-five finish of the season as the Illini tied for fourth place at the 2021 Schooner Fall Classic after posting a final day score of 288 (+8) on Monday (September 27) and wrapping the two-day event with a 54-hole total of 855 (+15) at the par-70, 6,109-yard Belmar Golf Club.

"We applied some key items we learned at our first tournament which led to a solid first day of play," said head coach Renee Slone. "We had a bit of a slow start to today's round and put ourselves in some difficult spots to score from. Another step forward as we continue to build throughout the season."

Senior Kornkamol Sukaree finished in a tie for seventh and came within one stroke of a career-low with a 54-hole score of 211 (+1) after posting a three-over 73 in the final round.

Sophomore Isabel Sy finished just outside the top-10 in a tied for 11th after carding a two-under 72 for a tournament total of 212 (+2), also just one stroke off of a career-low 54-hole score.

Senior Crystal Wang and junior Siyan Chen finished in a tie for 27th with a 216 (+6) total, with Wang moving up 20 spots in the standings with a two-under 68 and Chen posting a five-over 75 in the final round. Freshman Lexanne Halama rounded out the Illini with a 54-hole total of 225 (+15) after carding a seven-over 77 on Monday.

Oklahoma State led from start to finish to take home the tournament title with a 54-hole score of 824 (-16), with Texas A&M (844), Baylor (848), the Illini and Florida State (855) rounding out the top five. The Cowgirls' Caley McGinty earned the individual title with an eight-under par total of 202.

The Illini will next head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational at the Blessings Golf Club on Oct. 4-6.
