FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Illinois women's golf team continued play at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 5) at the par-72, 6,556-yard Blessings Golf Club, carding a second-round score 305 (+17) to sit in ninth place with a 36-hole total of 610 (+34) with one round remaining.
For the second-straight day Senior Crystal Wang led the Illini with a three-over 75 and is tied for 13th with a five-over 149 total, while classmate Kornkamol Sukaree turned in a five-over 77 for a two-round total of 152 (+8) to sit in a tie for 27th.
Junior Siyan Chen improved upon her opening round score with a four-over 76 on Tuesday and is tied for 33rd with a nine-over 153 total. For the second-straight day freshman Lexanne Halama posted a seven-over 79 to sit in a tie for 42nd with a 158 (+14) total, while sophomore Isabel Sy is tied for 44th with a 36-hole total of 159 (+15) after registering a five-over 77 in the second round.
Host Arkansas took a second-round lead in the tournament with a 14-under total of 569, with opening round leader sitting in second with a four-over 580 total. Texas Tech (588), Louisville (598) and Arizona (600) round out the top five. The Razorbacks' Brooke Matthews leads all individuals after carding a six-under 66 on Tuesday for a 138 (-6) total.
The Illini will wrap up play at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with the third and final round on Wednesday (Oct. 6) and will tee off at 10:30 a.m. CT off of hole 10. Fans can follow along with live scoring via Golfstat.com, with the tournament also being televised with daily coverage from 3-6 p.m. CT on GOLF Channel.  Â
