MEDINAH, Ill. – The Illinois women's golf team finished its Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah in a tie for sixth at the par-72, 6,159-yard Medinah Country Club on Tuesday (Oct. 12). The Illini posted a six-under par 54-hole total of 858. The Illini, who finished their second round on Tuesday morning following a suspension of play due to rain on Monday afternoon, carded second and third rounds of 284 (-4) and 290 (+2).
Senior Crystal Wang led the Illini with a three-under 213 to tie for 13th with scores of 71-74 in the final two rounds, while freshman Lexanne Halama had her best finish of her young career with a career-low one-under 215 to tie for 23rd after rounds of 70-71. Halama's second round 70 also marked her career-low single round.
Sophomore Isabel Sy finished in a tie for 33rd after rounds of 71-69 for a tournament-total of one-over 217, with junior Siyan Chen sitting right behind her in a tie for 37th with a two-over 218 after rounds of 72-78. Senior Kornkamol Sukaree rounded out the Illini with a nine-over 225 to tie for 69th and carded rounds of 75-76 on the day.
Individually, freshman Alise Knudson finished with an 11-over 227 with second and third round scores of 74 and 80, respectfully.
Louisville and Georgia each finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 849 (-15), with the Cardinals taking home the team title on a tiebreaker. Kent State's Emily Price carded a 10-under 206 for the two-day event to earn individual medalist honors.
The Illini next wrap up their fall season as they travel to Wilmington, N.C., for The Landfall Tradition on October 29-31.
