On Monday, October 19th, Michael Feagles won a share of the rain-shortened HNS Amateur Open title in Columbus, Ohio. The senior shot even par through two rounds. He led an Orange and Blue contingent that placed four in the top five. This was the third consecutive win by an Illini this month, following Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Tommy Kuhl at the Golfweek Purdue and Hoosier Amateurs, respectively. Feagles returned for his final season after a COVID-shortened senior year and is pursuing a master's degree in Recreation, Sport and Tourism.
In his senior campaign that was cut short by COVID, Feagles played in the lineup in all six tournaments and finished in the top 25 at 5 of 6 events. He also led the team with the lowest stroke average of 71.56.
Earlier this season he was one of four Fighting Illini that competed in the U.S. Amateur Brandon Dunes Golf Resort in Brandon, Oregon. He has earned many other honors in his time at Illinois including:
- 2018 All-Big Ten Championships Team
- 2017 Big Ten Freshman of the Year
- 2017 Big Ten Freshman of the Year
- 2019 PING All-America Honorable Mention
- Four-time All-Big Ten First Team (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
- Four-time PING All-Midwest Region (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
