Day 1 Results
IOWA CITY, IOWA - Illinois track & field junior Amira Aduma won the women's Long Jump title to lead the Illini on Day 1 of the Larry Wieczorek Invitational at Iowa on Friday. Aduma, competing in the Long Jump for the first time at the collegiate level, captured the first event title of the season for Illinois by jumping 6.14 meters. The mark is tied for the fifth-best indoor jump in program history.
Redshirt senior Jonathan Wells turned in a solid performance in the men's Long Jump in his Illini return. Wells jumped 7.49 meters to place third in the event.
In the women's 200m Premier, Chisom Nwoko recorded a new PR. Nwoko clocked 24.57 today at Iowa, surpassing her former personal-best of 24.74 set at the Illini Classic on January 27, 2018. She finished sixth in the event, and fourth among attached collegiate competitors.
The Illini saw two top-five performances in the women's 1000m Run. Freshman Tracy Towns placed third, timing 2:49.16, and redshirt sophomore Rebecca Craddock crossed next, recording a time of 2:51.05 to finish fourth.
In the men's Shot Put, Illinois saw top-three finishes from redshirt fresmen Will Rezny and Billy Matzek. Rezny placed second with a mark of 15.86 meters, and Matzek finished third with a mark of 15.60 meters.
Competition resumes tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT with the women's Pole Vault. The Illini will have five student-athletes competing in the day's first event. Fans can stream action from the meet with subscriptions to either BTN + or FloTrack.
