CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois women's golf team will play in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, set for Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Par 72, 6,319-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
"We are definitely looking forward to finishing off the regular season on a positive note," said head coach Renee Slone. "We have enjoyed a number of different success this spring. We have had the last couple of weeks off from tournament play, and a chance for the team to really focus on academics and get that all squared away, because the next week and a half is very busy for us."
The 29th-ranked Fighting Illini will compete against No. 12 Kent State, No. 20 Texas, No. 31 Ohio State, No. 33 Michigan, Indiana, Indianapolis, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers and Toledo.
The tournament format will be the same as the conference tournament, with a 'play six, count four' scoring format. The lineup for Illinois at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational will be Dana Gattone, Swing Liu, Tristyn Nowlin, Grace Park, Jan Prapassarangkul and Big Singhsumalee.
"We will look to focus on ourselves, taking care of the little things that need to be done for us to be successful, and it's a great tournament to finish off the regular season and head into the postseason," Slone said."
The first two rounds of play will take place on Saturday, followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday. There will be a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start on both days.
Live stats will be available on Golfstat, and a recap of each day will be available on FightingIllini.com
