MADISON, Wis. – Illinois women's golf opened play at the Badger Invitational on Sunday and sits in 11th place with a 12-over team score of 300. Action took place at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis.
Erica Lee paced the Fighting Illini on the day, carding a 1-over 73 to head into the second round tied for 23rd. Sunday's play marked the third consecutive round with Lee contributing Illinois' best score.
Alexis Myers and Eileen Lee followed close behind, each posting rounds of 2-over 74. The pair closed the first day tied for 33rd. Meadow Tian and Sofia Vargas each turned in scores of 7-over 79 to round out the Illini lineup, ending day one tied for 73rd.
Competing as an individual, Tavia Burgess carded a 5-over 77 in her opening round to sit tied for 60th.
Illinois will return to play for round two on Monday from the University Ridge Golf Course. The Illini tee times on Monday begin at 8:30 a.m. CT., with 27 holes on the docket.
