Illini in Seventh Place after Day 2 from Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. – Illinois women's golf wrapped up Day 2 action at the Badger Invitational on Monday, playing 27 holes across the day. The Fighting Illini sit in seventh place on the team leaderboard with nine holes remaining from University Ridge Golf Course. The schedule was adjusted to account for inclement weather in the forecast.
Through 45 holes, Illinois holds a team score of 740 (+20). The Orange and Blue carded marks of 300 (+12) in round one, 294 (+4) in round two, and sit at 146 (+2) at the midway point of round three. As a team, Illinois' scoring average of 4.13 on par 4s ranks third across the field.
All six Fighting Illini competitors started round two on hole 10 and played the back nine of round three.
Alexis Myers led the charge for the Fighting Illini on Day 2, firing a 1-over 73 in round two and is even through nine holes in round three. Monday's showing led Myers up the individual standings into a tie for 17th at 3-over. The sophomore tied for the team's low score in round two, marking her first occurrence of such this season.
Erica Lee followed close behind with a 2-over 74 in round two, sitting at 4-over total to head into the final day tied for 22nd. The senior shot a 1-over 37 on the back nine of the third round. Across all individuals, Lee's scoring average of 4.83 on par 5s is tied for seventh.
Meadow Tian also turned in a 2-over 74 in Monday's complete round and is even with nine holes of the final round in the books. The freshman's play moved her up 16 spots on the leaderboard, into a tie for 41st at 9-over.
Sofia Vargas matched Myers for the Illini's team-best score in the second round at a 1-over 73. The junior carded five birdies across round two and shot 37 (+1) on her first half of the third round. She climbed eight spots up the board to join her teammate tied for 41st at 9-over.
Eileen Lee closed out the second round with an 83 (+11) before rebounding with a 1-over 37 to start the final round. The freshman enters Day 3 tied for 65th at 14-over.
Competing as an individual, Tavia Burgess carded a 1-over 73 in round two. She opened third-round play with a 42 (+6). Burgess is tied for 54th at 12-over heading into the final day.
The remaining holes of round three from Madison, Wis., will commence with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
