IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Fighting Illini men's track and field team closed out the regular-season portion of its schedule by competing at the Musco Twilight on Saturday evening. At the event, Illinois competitors broke two school records and recorded 19 top-10 finishes.

Two-time reigning Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week DJ Zahn competed in just one event on the evening but he made it count. Zahn won the 200m in 20.53, obliterating the previous Illinois school record of 20.62 set by Anthony Jones in 1994. Cam Viney finished fifth in the event in 21.39.

The second school record to fall happened in the hammer throw. Davis Fraker unleashed a heave of 68.41m (224' 5.50"), shattering the previous record of 65.36m (214' 5") that he set earlier this season.

The Illini had a pair of top-10 finishers in the 800m, 1,500m and 3,000m. In the 800m, Trevor Kuehr was the top runner for the Orange and Blue, finishing sixth in 1:51.93, while Tony Zea clocked 1:52.62 to finish 10th. In the 1,500m, Paul Zeman finished third in 3:52.62 and Malik Lee was seventh with a time of 3:54.90. The 3,000m saw Alex Gold finish sixth in 8:28.40, while Will Brewster claimed 10th with a time of 8:33.02.

In the 100m hurdles, Viney added a runner-up performance to his fifth-place showing in the 200m, finishing in 13.71 to move into third on Illinois' all-time list. David Kendziera was third in the event, tying his personal-best of 13.93. Jonathan Wells was seventh in a personal-best 14.51.

Wells added a pair of top-10 performances in field events to his work on the track. He finished third in the high jump with a clearance of 2.11m (6' 11") and sixth in the long jump with a leap of 7.26m (23' 10").

Also in the jumps, Branden Tanthavong claimed third in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 15.00m (49' 2.50"), while Mitch Mammoser was fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.05m (16' 6.75").

In the throws, Brandon Noe finished fifth in the discus with a heave of 55.05m (180' 7.50"), while Matsen Dziedzic was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 16.21m (53' 2.25").

Illinois' 4x400m relay closed out the event in Iowa City with a fifth-place finish, clocking 3:19.62.

In addition to the competitiors in Iowa City, the Orange and Blue sent four runners to Stanford to compete in the Payton Jordan Invitational. Joe McAsey, Garrett Lee, Dylan Lafond and Jannis Toepfer each traveled west with hopes of coming home with season-best performances.

In the 800m, McAsey clocked a season-best 1:47.91, just off his career-best mark. Lee ran the 1,500m in 3:45.96, just shy of his season-best. Lafond ran his first 5,000m of the season, finishing in 14:04.43 to move into ninth on Illinois' all-time list. Toepfer covered 10,000m in 29:06.82 to move into fourth the Orange and Blue's all-time list.

The Illini will now have a week off from competition before traveling to East Lansing, Michigan from May 15-17 for the Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
