CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Illinois men's track and field team will travel to the Tiger Track Classic this weekend. The meet will take place Friday and Saturday at the Hutsell-Rosen Track in Auburn, Ala. Illinois will send a full squad to compete in the 18-team field. A meet schedule and heat sheets can be found above.

Action begins on Friday afternoon with Davis Fraker competing in the hammer throw, followed by Branden Tanthavong in the triple jump. Tanthavong placed first in the event last weekend with a new personal-best mark of 14.96m. After setting a meet record en route to a first-place finish last weekend, Ben Dodds will compete in the javelin alongside teammate Aaron Wilks, who placed second in his Illini debut. In the final event of the day on Friday, Jannis Toepfer and Jordan Hebert will compete in the 5,000m.

Corey Hammon and David Kendziera will begin the day on Saturday morning in the long jump, then Hammon will join teammate Brandon Noe in the discus. Noe and Fraker will represent the Illini in the shot put, followed by Cody Klein and Blaze Galardy in the pole vault in the final field event of the day.

Running events begin Saturday afternoon with Vanier Joseph, Cam Viney, Corey Hammon and David Kendziera in the 110m hurdles. Joseph set a new meet record to win the event last weekend at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational, while Viney placed third. Stephon Pamilton, DJ Zahn and Kenneth Allen will compete in the 400m next, followed by Brandon Stryganek and Julian Smith in the 100m dash. After placing first in the 800m last weekend, Joe McAsey will compete in the event this weekend alongside teammates Zebo Zebe, Josh Jones and Malik Lee. Cam Viney is coming off of a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles last weekend at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational and will be joined by David Kendziera in the event this weekend. Stryganek and Smith will run the 200m, followed by Jannis Toepfer and Graham Morris in the 3,000m steeplechase. Garrett Lee will represent the Illini in the invitational section of the 1,500m in the final event of the day.
